Legacy modernisation

The system works. The problem is that only one person understands it, and that person doesn't work here any more.

Old applications are rarely bad — they are undocumented. The risk isn't the technology, it's that nobody dares touch it. Our first job isn't the rewrite; it is making the system legible again.

First, understand it

We extract the database schema, the procedures, the dependencies and the routes a transaction actually takes. The result is a document you own regardless of what you decide next — even if you choose not to continue with us.

Then, in phases

  • One module replaced at a time, never the whole system at once.
  • Old and new run in parallel until the numbers agree.
  • Every phase has a rollback that has been rehearsed, not just planned.
  • Users are trained on the new module before the old one is switched off.

When a rewrite isn't worth it

Sometimes the answer is to rewrite nothing. An old system with good documentation, tested backups and healthy hardware can run another five years without trouble. If that is the right answer for you, you will hear it from us — even though it is the smaller project.

Not sure where to start?

The audit puts the whole picture on paper within two weeks, at a fixed price. The report stays yours whatever you decide afterwards.
